City of London Crematorium chooses Wesley Music

Wesley Music are very pleased to confirm the City of London Crematorium as the latest facility to convert to the use of their innovative new On-line Music Service.

In addition to adopting the WM system and the on-line supply of music for playback during client services, the Corporation of London also took the opportunity to invest in a superb new speaker system for each of their 5 chapels at the cemetery and crematorium site.

Other crematoria to have opted for the WM music service in recent months include Worcester, Harwood Park and Worthing. The system is currently being considered for implementation by crematoria in Aberdeen, Warwick, New Southgate, Glasgow, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Medway.

Wesley Music demonstrated the service and its operating equipment to cemetery and crematorium managers at the CBA Seminar at Cranfield University in May, and they will be at the Joint Conference of Burial and Cremation Authorities in Scarborough in September.

Continental interest in the service has also been much higher than anticipated at this early stage, and an announcement about the first overseas subscriber is expected in the near future.

After extensive consultation with a number of leading industry representatives, Wesley Music have developed a unique computer-based storage, scheduling and playback system which enables Crematorium staff to effortlessly compile an entire day’s (and multiple days’) music, programmed in advance.

Each programme item is then activated by a remote ‘one-touch’ button from the Lectern, or any other convenient position within the Chapel, thus freeing up valuable staff resources. For added simplicity and convenience, clients’ own CDs can be loaded onto the system as they arrive at the Crematorium, and still form part of the overall schedule.

The system is currently in the final stages of field trials at two well-known Crematoria, and will be available for viewing and demonstration at the exhibition supporting the 2001 Cremation Society Conference in Bournemouth between 11-13th July.

The first of its kind anywhere, and developed specifically by the Wesley Music team to satisfy a growing need in Crematoria, it will aid the simple and efficient management of virtually all bereavement service music requirements in a manner not available to a Crematorium before.
